Review

A nicely illustrated game, but its apparent simplicity may put off some people. This is not the case however. Although the game mechanics are pretty simple (and bear a resemblence to those in El Grande), it is a pretty unique game.

The game revolves around the six German tribes: Goths, Tutons, Vandals, Franks, Saxons and Huns. The role of the players is to increase their influence in each of the tribes. At the end of each century, the players score based on their influence. Of course the player with the highest influence wins at the end of the game.

The one slight disappointment is that the quality of some of the components isn't as good as some German games. The playing cards aren't printed on the usual heavy playing card stock, and may not last as long. The good news is that you still get lovely wooden pieces, and it comes in a smaller box than usual (still oversized though) which makes it easier to store and transport. My only other gripe is that many of the graphics are on the dark side, and the colours of the components could have been more distinct and unique.
