Recreate the experiences of the Black Plague
This is a fast, end of night game. Each player starts with 50 population and the winner is the last survivor. Each turn players take cards, and play a card either on themselves (to improve their city and make it easier to prosper) or on someone else to bugger their city up. In their turn, players roll the dice and gain extra population.
This happy state continues until the plague ship arrives. Now in each turn, players roll to see how much population they lose.
The cards are black and white, but very pretty and quite intricately decorated in the style of Medieval woodcuts. The two dice are specially manufactured and have skulls on the one-spot face. My copy didn't come with a rule book (fortunately I was able to acquire a copy) so I can only comment on the older rule book which is brief, but quite acceptable. One great improvement from the previous versions is that it comes in a plastic CCG box. This is a great game overall a sort of Medieval "Nuclear War".
